Palm's WebOS SDK for mobile phones such as the Palm Pre or Pixi has a quite solid cross-platform support and comes with prebuilt packages for Windows, MacOS and Ubuntu Linux. Running FreeBSD for years now, I am quite used to not having platform support out of the box for a certain set of software, but to stick to emulating other OSes or patch the Linux packages from the original vendor in order to make it work for me.
The same had to be done to develop applications for WebOS, so for anyone else working with a BSD operating system, which has a solid Linux binary support, the following documentation can act as a starting point to set up your very own development environment.
